elabstracto One of the finest instrumental hip-hop releases of the last few years. Don't sleep on this wonderful album. Favorite track: Blow A Fuse.

CodyDubya Very smooth. Nice pacing.
Instrumental Hip-Hop songs often overstay their welcome, but this album doesn't have that issue. I was expecting a more techno-influenced album from the title, but this has more of a swinged, soulful, classic hip-hop sound. For me, this is a good thing. Great record. Favorite track: More Gear.

nicholaevich Sounds like the soundtrack to a junkyard, in a good way. Favorite track: Whoopee.

about

"I can see a magnet in your hand!"

You know those 'in case of emergency, break glass' boxes? This is somewhat like that, minus the assemblage of hazardous glass shards; it is mess free (I would hope), and you don't have to break any part of it frankly. Well, maybe it isn't anything like those boxes at all.

Let me propose, the possibility of involuntary role reversal with one of man's most progressive creations, the robot. Sound scary to you? No? I suppose it wouldn't be too bad if a squad of computer-brained, mechanical, synthetic humanoids took over all the dirty work to support our luxury. Would that even be role reversal though? Would that make us pets to our own make, or would it be innovation in the workforce? Hasn't there been movies about this stuff? Probably, and perhaps this is just a homage to the genre.

What I do know is, there are 30 tracks of robot inspired hip hop instrumentals here. Clunky and plucked percussion, early and not-so-early synth use, odd spring reverberation and dashes of vocoder are all present. Enjoy.
